About the Tour
Take a tour of the grounds of the Historic Homestead at the Shepherd of the Hills on a jeep-guided tram tour!
Visit the famous Old Matt’s cabin, which is the original home of the Shepherd of the Hills’ main character – still in the original location. This National Historic Registry home is one of the landmarks of Branson’s history.
Your tour of the Homestead will take you through multiple points throughout the park that include:
Inspiration Point
The second-highest natural peak in Missouri lies at Inspiration Point. You will view Harold Bell Wright’s campsite which overlooks the hills and mountains of Northern Arkansas and across Mutton Hollow.
View the carved stone characters from the famous book that include: Little Pete, Old Matt, Aunt Mollie, Sammy Lane, Young Matt, and of course – the Shepherd.
Morgan Community Church
See one of the churches that is similar to the ones that Mr. Wright ministered during his travels throughout the country. Save from demolition and moved to Inspiration Point in 1991, it stands as a shining example of Ozarks history.
Old Mill Theatre
Carved into a wooded setting nearly a half century ago, the Old Mill Theatre provides a sneak peak of the nightly shows at Shepherd of the Hills – giving you insight behind some of the special effects that you see performed onstage.
Jenning’s Still
Take a look at the lost art of moonshine-making with a visit to Jenning’s Still and learn some of the history and facts behind the infamous alcoholic brew!
